Privacy Notice

1. Information stored in your browser

PetQuestAI uses browser local storage to remember your approximate location or ZIP code, search filters, Match Me answers, completed matching profile, favorite pet identifiers, and whether this browser completed an email signup. Session storage may remember that you dismissed an email prompt. This information generally stays on your device until you submit it through a feature or clear PetQuestAI site data.

2. Location information

If you allow browser geolocation, your browser supplies latitude and longitude coordinates. PetQuestAI stores them locally and uses them to request nearby listings. If you decline, you can enter a ZIP code. A ZIP code may appear in a search-page URL so the area can be restored or shared. Operational analytics deliberately remove URL query strings, including ZIP-code parameters.

3. Information you submit

When you join the email list, PetQuestAI receives your email address, consent, and the context of the request. If you request quiz emails, that context includes your validated Match Me answers and a results path. If you request favorite-pet updates, it includes the selected pet identifier and path. PetQuestAI does not ask for payment-card information, government identifiers, or an account password.

4. Listing and third-party information

PetQuestAI retrieves public pet and organization information from RescueGroups.org and may link you to shelters, rescues, and other external sites. When you follow an external link or contact an organization, that third party receives information directly from you under its own privacy practices.

5. Operational and security records

PetQuestAI keeps limited server records to operate, secure, and improve the Service. Depending on hosting configuration, records may include the page path without its query string, time, IP address, country supplied by a trusted hosting proxy, device class, browser, operating system, 404 requests, suspected scanner requests, failed administrator logins, and service errors. Detailed operational records are retained for up to 30 days by default. Aggregate page-view totals may be retained longer.

6. How information is used

Information is used to provide nearby searches and matching features; remember your choices; retrieve and personalize pet results; manage requested email communications; operate, measure, debug, and secure the Service; prevent fraud and abuse; comply with law; and establish or defend legal claims. Where applicable, processing relies on your consent, performance of a requested service, the operator’s legitimate interests in running and protecting PetQuestAI, or compliance with legal obligations.

7. When information is disclosed

Information may be disclosed to vendors that operate the Service, including Brevo for consent-based email subscriptions, RescueGroups.org when PetQuestAI requests listings, and hosting or infrastructure providers that process technical records. It may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect rights and safety, in connection with a business transfer, or at your direction. Vendors are expected to process information for the services they provide and under their own applicable terms.

8. Advertising, sales, and tracking

Google advertising support is currently disabled. When disabled, PetQuestAI does not load Google’s advertising script or make Google ad requests. PetQuestAI does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Before enabling advertising or materially different tracking, PetQuestAI must update this notice and deploy any legally required consent and opt-out controls.

Browsers may send Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals. Because PetQuestAI does not currently sell or share information for targeted advertising, there is no sale or sharing to opt out of. Operational storage and strictly necessary security processing may continue.

9. Email choices

Email signup is optional. Brevo maintains subscription information and processes unsubscribe requests. You can unsubscribe through the link in any marketing email. A pending or completed signup marker may remain in local storage to prevent repeated prompts; clearing site data removes that local marker but does not unsubscribe an email address already sent to Brevo.

10. Retention

Browser data remains until you clear it or PetQuestAI replaces it. Detailed Observatory records default to a 30-day retention period. Email subscription records are retained while you are subscribed and as needed to maintain suppression, consent, compliance, and dispute records. Other records are kept only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, legal requirements, security, and dispute resolution.

11. Security and international processing

PetQuestAI uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Vendors may process information in jurisdictions different from yours and apply safeguards required by applicable law.

12. Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information, withdraw consent, object to certain processing, opt out of certain disclosures, or appeal a denied request. You may also complain to the privacy regulator where you live. PetQuestAI will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

To make a request, contact the contact address published by the PetQuestAI operator and describe the request. PetQuestAI may need to verify your identity and authority. Because local favorites, filters, quiz answers, and location are stored in your browser without an account, the operator may be unable to identify or delete them remotely; clear PetQuestAI site data in your browser instead.

13. Children

PetQuestAI is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. Children under 13 may not submit an email address or other personal information. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information, contact the contact address published by the PetQuestAI operator so the operator can investigate and delete it where required.

14. Changes and contact

This notice may be updated as PetQuestAI changes. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date and, when appropriate, an additional notice. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to the contact address published by the PetQuestAI operator. Use of PetQuestAI is also governed by the Terms of Use.
